For 2022, the event is called Summertime Odyssey. Naturally, there are goodies to be claimed if you participate, so read on for details on what will be happening and what you need to do to take part.
What are the requirements to take part in the Summertime Odyssey event?
In order to play the Summertime Odyssey event when it launches, you need to have done the following:
Reached Adventure Rank 32. Completed the “Autumn Winds, Scarlet Leaves” Archon Quest (a.k.a. the Chapter II Prologue / Inazuma storyline prologue / Kaedehara Kazuha’s story quest). Completed the “Beyond This World’s Stars” Story Quest (a.k.a. Astrolabos Chapter: Act 1 / Mona’s story quest).
Last year’s event required you to have reached at least Adventure Rank 21; have completed Act III of the Prologue (a.k.a. Mondstadt storyline) in the game’s main questline; and have played Klee’s story quest, introduced for the event, called “True Treasure”. Instead of featuring Klee as the main character, Summertime Odyssey stars Kazuha and Mona as the leads in this story, with Fischl and Xinyan playing the supporting roles. This year, your AR needs to be a little higher — the participation cap has been raised to Adventure Rank 32, and the new main questline requirement means you need to have completed the Prologue to Chapter II (the quest is called “Autumn Winds, Scarlet Leaves”) before you can proceed. Also, in addition to having played Klee’s quest from last year, you also need to have completed Mona’s story quest “Beyond This World’s Stars”. However, if you’re a way behind, the game will take pity on you and let you enter the event in “Basic Mode”, which skips the requirement to have played the two story quests — although it does come with a warning that you won’t get the best experience story-wise. But, crucially, you can still get all the rewards from Summertime Odyssey itself. To make things a little easier for those who want to enjoy both the story and the event, the level requirement before you can play Mona’s story quest has been temporarily dropped from AR 38 to AR 32 for the duration of the event. The game even seems inclined to waive the Story Key requirement for Mona’s questline if you come to it during Summertime Odyssey.
How to travel to the Golden Apple Archipelago
In order to travel to the Golden Apple Archipelago, you simply need to follow the questline “The Golden Apple Vacation Returns!” This should become available in your quest log as soon as you’ve met all the requirements laid out above. Alternatively, you can begin the event questline (or start in Basic Mode) from the Summertime Odyssey tab in the game’s Events Overview menu. After hanging out with the major players in Mondstadt for a bit, you’ll be directed to travel to the Golden Apple Archipelago via a curious vehicle parked just outside the city gates. The Archipelago is part of a separate map to the rest of Teyvat, similar to the Serenitea Pot. However, you can tab between the maps and travel between the Golden Apple Archipelago and the main map at will for the duration of the event, simply by interacting with any unlocked Teleport Waypoints. You won’t lose any progress in Summertime Odyssey by nipping back to town to do your Daily Commissions, in other words.
What are the rewards for taking part in the Summertime Odyssey event?
The reward for completing everything in this year’s summer event will be an exclusive outfit for Fischl. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that you get a copy of Fischl added to your archive if you don’t already have her, but at 4-star rarity she should be relatively easy to obtain if you haven’t already. (You can check out our next Genshin Impact banner guide to see if you can increase your odds of getting her soon.) Other rewards will include a hefty dose of Primogems for you to exchange for wishes you can then plug guilt-free into the gacha, as well as character levelling materials and other currencies. You’ll also have the opportunity to nab yourself at least one Crown of Insight (the levelling material needed to get a character to the top level of any active talent), which is pretty exciting stuff considering how hard they can be to source under normal circumstances.
Summertime Odyssey even end date and time
The Summertime Odyssey event, and access to the Golden Apple Archipelago, won’t be sticking around indefinitely. The event is expected to close on August 23rd, 2022 at 11pm BST / 6pm EDT / 3pm PDT, coinciding with the end of Version 2.8. That means you have a full 40 days to enjoy this year’s summer event and work your way through everything the Summertime Odyssey questline has to offer. That’s everything we know for now about the Golden Apple Archipelago in Genshin Impact Version 2.8 and the Summertime Odyssey event. We’re excited to learn more about how the 2022 event will differ from last year’s, though, so keep an eye out for more from Rock Paper Shotgun if it turns out to be particularly interesting.
